Fallen Angel

Well angels can fall without being damned
it’s rare but it happened right here where I stand
This angel I speak of fell down to the earth
She fell 66 stories to death and new birth

She’s my fallen angel
She’s my spirit pure
She’s my fallen angel
and I’m crying for her

My angel did nothing to deserve this cruel fate
I rushed here to stop her but got here too late
Those wings on her back couldn't help at the brink
How could they help her when they were just ink

She’s my fallen angel

And I’m dying for her

Her family was the cause
If only they’d seen
She might then have paused
‘Til help I could bring

Her mother beat her out of hatred
Her father beat her for her love
They beat my sweet angel
Now she flies high above

My angel was a woman
Not meant for this life

Without her there’s nothing
To ever compare
Stars don’t shine like her eyes
Silk’s not soft as her hair

They can take her away

Looking around, he saw a thousand other people like himself, all pushing forward, longing for something more.

In their eyes there was something familiar.

A thirst, a hunger, a longing to be more than the rest, yet this was what made them so similar.

He couldn't help it, seeing their crazed faces, he started to laugh.

Moving from the center of the crowd to one of the extremities, however, he noticed that instead of a drop in the pressure, it rose, and the people around him became angry as well as driven.

That pours so endlessly

Which Way? Pt. 2A gasp escaped his lips as he emerged from the crowd, victorious at last.

He looked around, wondering what the landscape was like in the land he had arrived unknowingly in.

But to his surprise, it was not beautiful.

There was just the same blue sky, the same sun, stuck at early evening.

The only change was that the path carved by the crowd had become a huge clearing, extending as far as his eyes could see.

Then he realized that it was not that the clearing was huge, but that his eyes were weakened by the sun's rays, surrounding him in their brightness, and causing chaos with his perception.

My Voice Broke TodayMy voice broke today, and I couldn't find the pieces for 20 minutes.
I spent them in contemplation, wondering why emotion was rearing it's ugly head.
I think I had the answer before I asked the question.

Is it a sin to not care?
I don't know if that's a rhetorical question, but it's one I don't know the answer to.
It doesn't really matter to me anyways.

Drifting around, like a tumbleweed, I'm kicked along by whatever crosses my path.
I'm not a true wanderer because I have a destination.
I have no map, no compass to lead the way, but I know where I'm headed to.

But the road I take has never been straightforward, never been the easy path.

There's just one question pressing on my mind, and it's eating away like acid.

Where are all the questions?

My mind is usually a confused clash of color, in every shade of every hue, all vomiting themselves everywhere and destroying my focus, but lately it's like someone just turned the screen off. It's disorienting to me not to be disoriented, I feel like I'm on autopilot with no destination.

Blank. A tundra, nothing but white in every direction, going further than any eye could see, cold and unchanging. There's no point in rushing anywhere, no point in moving at all. Were I to take an F-14 and fly at top speed with the afterburners on for a week straight, there would be no change. It's like a vacuum, but without the light of the stars to keep me hopeful. No mysterious darkness, no open canvas waiting to be filled. This is nothing.

It's like a white noise, but played at a volume where you can't help but notice it. There is nothing more unpleasant than the sound of a new refridgerator until you learn to tune it out, but this sound plays at such a high level that it grates your inner ear, shredding anything else that tries to make itself heard and leaving you worse than deaf.

It's just that...oh,forget it, it's nothing.
